Skin Cancer
Skin cancer is the abnormal growth of skin cells, often caused by UV exposure, and can vary from non-melanoma types (like basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma) to more serious forms such as melanoma, requiring prompt diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Turkeltaub often works with patients to remove cancerous tissues and/or help repair scars and other skin defects left behind after surgical excision, Mohs surgery or other treatments.
Lipomas
Lipomas are benign, slow-growing fatty tumors that form beneath the skin. Depending on their size and location, they can be both aesthetically and functionally disruptive, necessitating surgical removal. Lipoma removal typically involves a minor surgical procedure to excise the benign fatty lump, providing relief from discomfort as well as cosmetic improvement.
Scar Revision
There are several different types of scars that can develop when a wound heals, ranging from fine, and imperceptible lines to wide, raised, hard and painful masses. Scar revision procedures aim to improve the appearance of the scars by making them less visible, smoother or better blended with the surrounding skin. It can also alleviate symptoms and prevent continued enlargement.
